The team at Blackball have been busy this year working on both some really exciting client projects as well as a little project of our own - SyncHub, a cloud based platform that helps businesses connect all their data to the reporting tool of their choice.

Simple in principle, there’s a lot of smarts under the hood with years of integrations experience crammed into our underlying Foundation architecture. The SyncHub engine is already driving a number of client integrations and now our engine is available a SaaS product too.

How SyncHub works

SyncHub works by pulling in your business data from all the cloud based software your business uses and saving it in a database. SyncHub then checks for new and modified data so your reports are kept up to date.

Eating our own dog food

The hardest part about building software for ourselves is being disciplined. It’s too easy to add new features and functionality because we want it rather than only building what users actually need. This also means keeping the scope as narrow as possible so we’re building scalpels not Swiss Army Knives.

Perhaps this is a good time to re-read Ben’s book How to know if your software developer is trying to kill you as all the advice we give to clients on how to build is also critical to our own success too.
